After years of hard work and research, we finally bring you Distortion Studios, our very own Virtual Production Studio.
Distortion Studios was first thought of in 2020 when we pivoted to doing extended reality virtual events as a solution to boring zoom calls. We had great success for our clients and found great new work flows that we could apply to many different situations.
But we wanted to grow this offering, make it bigger and better. So we needed to find a studio space that could facilitate this. Studio Giggle has always had (and still does have) a small green screen studio where we film occasionally, however it wasn’t fit for purpose for a virtual production studio.
We then set down a long and winding path in order to find the perfect location for us. In 2023, we found it. Just 10 minutes from our office at the Paintworks, was Band Studio, a much loved Bristol Studio that sadly went out of business in COVID19. We took over the space and began renovating the space to make it fit for purpose for virtual production.
We have partnered with Creative UK and iMAG Displays to make this all possible.
What is Virtual Production?
Virtual production is a filmmaking technique that uses digital technology, such as real-time computer graphics, camera tracking and LED screens, to create environments and scenes that would normally require physical sets or locations. It allows filmmakers to visualize and interact with these digital environments during shooting, improving efficiency and creative flexibility.
