This year’s Studio Giggle Christmas Card (hotly anticipated like the John Lewis advert!) has been inspired by our rebrand!
Earlier this year, we rebranded and reconnected with what (we think) makes us special.
What makes Studio Giggle stand out? we think it’s our playful creative!
We want to be the fun that helps transform marketing campaigns. And when else is a good time to play? Christmas! Or it was once, when we were kids! So we wanted to use our Christmas card as an opportunity to play with our branding and our ethos.
The idea of creativity and play in corporate communication has been the inspiration behind our guide, Permission to play: Unleashing Creativity in Corporate Communication. This playbook has been crafted by our Founder, Steve Garratt. For those of you who haven’t met Steve, playfulness is at his very core. He has wild pink hair, colourful nails and is never far from a flamboyant shirt! He is in a long standing Improv group and has previously done stand up comedy. He knows how to play! But he knows how to make play work for our clients to enable them to tell their stories and be successful.

Permission to Play: Unleashing Creativity in Corporate Communications
The world is becoming an increasingly stressful place. Anxiety and fear seem to be the norm, and this shift has seeped into our workplaces, too. We must remember the importance of play, a fundamental aspect of human experience and learning. But why is play crucial in a corporate setting?
The Power of Play
Play is a disruptor. It breaks down traditional thinking patterns, encouraging unexpected ideas, misunderstandings, and a touch of the weird. In the realm of play, different is good, as it leads to new perspectives and innovative solutions.
Play in the Workplace
So, how can we introduce play into our corporate environments? It’s not about childish games during meetings. Instead, it’s about fostering a culture that encourages creativity, experimentation, and risk-taking.
Here are some ideas:
- Playful Meetings: Structure meetings differently, incorporating elements of surprise, humour, or unconventional formats.
- Creative Workshops: Organize workshops focused on imaginative problem-solving, using techniques like brainstorming, mind mapping, or role-playing.
- Gamification: Introduce game-like elements into work processes, such as challenges, rewards, and leaderboards.
- Playful Communication: Encourage using humour, storytelling, and visual aids to enhance communication.
Benefits of Play
By embracing play, organisations can reap numerous benefits:
- Increased Creativity: Play stimulates the imagination and fosters innovative thinking.
- Improved Problem-Solving: Playful approaches can lead to more effective and unconventional solutions.
- Enhanced Team Cohesion: Playful activities can strengthen team bonds and build trust.
- Reduced Stress: Playful environments can reduce stress and burnout.
- Boosted Morale: Playful activities can boost employee morale and engagement.
Getting Started
To implement a Permission to Play policy, start by asking yourself these questions:
- What is the purpose of play in our organisation?
- How can we create a culture that supports play?
- What are the potential risks and challenges?
- How can we measure the impact of play?
You can develop a tailored approach that aligns with your company’s goals and values by answering these questions.
Conclusion
In today’s fast-paced and competitive business landscape, play is not a luxury but a necessity. By embracing play, organisations can unlock the full potential of their workforce and achieve greater success. So, let’s give ourselves permission to play and reap the rewards.
Remember: Play is not just for children. It’s for everyone, especially in the corporate world!
