The past 12 months have seen a flurry of work for Studio Giggle in one of the smallest, yet wealthiest countries in the world – Kuwait.
4 Seasons Hotel (November 2017)
The Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait is part of a growing collection of hotels and resorts in the Gulf region. For the launch, Studio Giggle created 3D projection mapped content that was displayed on a replica of the hotel itself. The team also directed and edited the film playing in the background.
Porsche Cayenne Launch (January 2018)
The third edition of the Porsche Cayenne was officially launched in Kuwait and Studio Giggle designer the set and made content to be projected onto the unusually shaped, jagged stage. This was a firm favourite with the animators in the studio to work on, and the end result was super-charged, impressing the Kuwaiti Prime Minister who was sat in the front row.
Unveiling The Avenues Mall (March 2018)
With more than 1,100 stores, The Avenues Mall is the largest shopping mall in Kuwait and the second largest mall in the Middle East. Studio Giggle made a film to mark the expansion of the mall in 2018. It was played on large screens at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Kuwait Airport – Terminal 4 (July 2018)
In the summer of 2018 Kuwait International Airport expanded. Terminal 4 was built as a dedicated terminal for Kuwait’s national carrier Kuwait Airways. They needed a promotional film that showed a safe, speedy and convenient airport, hoping to become the standard for airports in the region. Studio Giggle flew out to Kuwait to direct and shoot the footage, while the team back in Bristol edited, translated, captioned and created the animated segments.
All 4 projects required Studio Giggle to fly out to Kuwait more than once. To ensure the quality of the filmed content, creative director Jonathan or producer David were always on site to oversee shoots, and during the events where the content was played Jonathan was joined by at least one animator to make sure everything ran smoothly on the day.
Working in 40 degree heat, with teams of Arabic crew, 3,000 miles from home surprisingly presented no real problems and it was fascinating working with people from a completely different culture. As a team they are flexible and excited to travel for projects, and each job was a thoroughly enjoyable and eye-opening experience.
Studio Giggle are actively searching for more opportunities to work with clients in the Middle East, and hopefully it won’t be too long before they are packing up their kit and flying out again.
